The pervasive and systemic forces of racism and poverty prevent many Philadelphians from accessing essential services of all kinds, and veterinary care and pet-related services are no exceptions. It is also an opportunity to reflect and deepen our understanding of the ways racism has shaped our country, and continues to impact our work in animal welfare – in Philadelphia and beyond.
